Media Diet: May 2023

After a very quiet April for media, my May was fully back to normal! A wide variety of TV, Films, and Books. Having Barry, Ted Lasso, Succession, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel finish their runs was depressing. All three are some of my favorite shows of the last few years.

📺 The Diplomat Season 1 - A fun and wild thriller with a great cast. (A)

🎥 Women Talking - Sarah Polley is one of my favorite directors, and I have meant to watch this forever. Everyone should give this a watch. (A+)

🎥 Tetris - I went in with no expectations and enjoyed it. Wild ride. (B+)

🎥 Unpregnant - I have had this on my backlog for ages, and glad I finally got around to watching it. I’m a sucker for a coming-of-age story. (A)

📺 The Rookie Season 5 - I’m just here for Nathan Fillion. (B)

🎭 The Legend of Georgia McBride - Favorite live show I’ve seen recently! Great story and so much fun. (A)

🎥 Blackberry - I am too young to have experienced the rise of Blackberry, but I watched it fall. It was a wild ride and a fun film. (A)

📺 Bupkis Season 1 - Pete Davidson being Pete Davidson. (B-)

🎥 Shazam! Fury of the Gods - Wow, this was a dud. (C-)

🎮 The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - I haven’t played many video games lately, but I have always been a Zelda fan. It is my favorite Zelda and one of my favorite games. (A+)

🎥 Fast X - Yeesh, this wasn’t very good (F)

🎭 Cats - The musical, not the film of the musical. I didn’t see why people loved it so much. (C)

📺 The Mandalorian Season 3 - Wasn’t as good as Andor, but watchable. (B)

📺 Succession Season 4 - I was a latecomer to Succession but enjoyed watching that disaster of a family.

📺 DAVE Season 3 - Continues to be one of the best comedies on TV. The finale is wild. (A+)

📚 Yellowface by R. F. Kuang - Something completely different from her previous works, but I enjoyed it just as much! (A)

📚 Temeraire #7 to #9 by Naomi Novik - I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Found it very hard to put down. (A)

📺 Barry Season 4 - A wild way to finish the show-off. I loved every moment of it. I am glad they mixed things up. (A)

📺 Ted Lasso Season 3 - This has been my comfort show that I go back to and rewatch. This season had some ups and downs, but I loved how they finished it. (A+)

📺 The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 - I am sad to see this is over, but I loved it the entire time. (A+)
