I’ve spent most of April traveling, so it’s a different media diet than usual! Lots more books and only a few TV shows and films. I started the month with a quick work trip to the Bay Area, then enjoyed three weeks in Europe for work. I spent most of those weeks with co-workers, which was always a great experience. Three back-to-back conferences were an exhausting experience, though! Thankfully I finished up with a week of vacation in Morocco with my partner.

I started the European adventure in Laval, France, for the Laval Virtual VR Conference. A more intimate trade show in a smaller French city that I adored. I got to spend some quality time with some co-workers I don’t get to see very often and finished up with a weekend in Paris and a PSG football match.

Then on to Amsterdam, Netherlands, for KubeCon with my DevOps/Platform team at ArborXR. Much was over my head, but I learned much about modern server infrastructure and got some quality time with that team.

Finally, finishing up with my personal favorite of them all, Running Remote in Lisbon, Portugal. I am passionate about remote work, and this was just the conference for me. Learning a lot and networking with some of the remote working community was great.

Now onto my very, very short media diet for the month! Most of the TV shows I’ve been watching are still mid-season.

🎭 Pretty Woman: The Musical - What a bore of a musical. An utterly unnecessary adaptation of the lovely film. It adds nothing to the film; watch it instead. (C-)

🎥 All Quiet on the Western Front - A horrific detailed look at World War I. A must-watch film for everyone. (A)

📺 Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. Season 2 - I never watched the original “Doogie Howser” TV show, but I thoroughly enjoyed this reboot! It’s light, fluffy, and fun to view. (A)

📚 Temeraire #2 to #6 by Naomi Novik - 5 books in the month is where most of my time was spent! I’ve loved Naomi Novik’s other books and thoroughly enjoy the Temeraire series. They’re page-turners from start to finish. (A)
