Another year of these Media Diet posts! I was hoping to get a lot more writing done in 2024 than I did, but I’m happy I at least kept these up. I spent a few weeks of December sick, which makes for a unique media diet. A few shows watched start to finish and an entire 15 book series read over two weeks.

πŸ“Ί Arcane Season 1 - I procrastinated watching this for so long despite all the hype. With season 2 coming out, I finally gave it a shot and thoroughly enjoyed it! (A-)

πŸ“Ί Douglas Is Cancelled Season 1 - This had so much potential but didn’t live up to it. (B-)

πŸ“š The Icarus Changeling by Timothy Zahn - A great addition to the Icarus Saga series. It continues to be a fun and exciting Sci-Fi series! (A-)

πŸŽ₯ Loves Lies Bleeding - I love the career that Kristen Stewart has managed to have post-Twilight. She’s played such a diverse range of characters and continues to here. Thrilling from start to finish. (A)

πŸŽ₯ Juror #2 - I’ve mixed feelings about Clint Eastwood’s directorial efforts, but I enjoyed this one. It’s a solid courtroom drama. (A-)

πŸ“Ί Lioness Season 2 - Not as good as the first season, but still a fun ride. Exciting from start to finish. (A-)

πŸ“Ί Shetland Season 6 - The previous season started slow with a switch-up in the main characters, but they’ve proven their chemistry in their second outing together. Great co-leads and an exciting story make this show continue to work. (A)

πŸ“Ί What We Do in the Shadows Season 6 - This series will be remembered as one of the best adaptations of a film into a TV series. It did everything right and was funny from start to finish. I am going to miss it! (A+)

πŸ“Ί Say Nothing Season 1 - I’ve loved consuming all the content about The Troubles that has come out in the last few years. It’s a period that I didn’t learn too much about in school in Canada. I read more about the controversies surrounding the original Say Nothing book to add more context to the show. (A)

πŸ“Ί Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 - I am tired of TV show seasons being split into multiple parts. Cobra Kai doing three parts is just ridiculous. This second part was pretty mediocre, and I am feeling very ready for this show to be over. (B-)

πŸŽ₯ Saturday Night - The fact that this royally pissed off Chevy Chase makes it worth a watch. Interesting for anyone who cares about the history of comedy. (B+)

πŸ“š Starship Mage 1-15 by Glynn Stewart - When I had an ear infection, it was annoying to listen to TV shows or films, and I spent a ton of time reading, so I read a ton. I picked up Starship Mage and quickly burned through all 15 books released so far. It’s a fun and exciting blend of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. (A)

πŸ“Ί The Day of the Jackal Season 1 - I had no idea this show existed until it was half over. James Bond vibes and such a fun ride from start to finish. I can’t wait for another season of it! (A)

πŸ“Ί Black Doves Season 1 - I never would have guessed that Keira Knightley could play such a convincing spy. She and Ben Whishaw work so well together on-screen. Worth the watch. (B+)

πŸ“Ί Shrinking Season 2 - It continues to be the show that pulls at my heart strings the mostβ€”no slump with this second season. Significant development with all of the characters, and the addition of Brett Goldstein is excellent. (A+)

πŸŽ₯ Kneecap - A fantastic film about a rap group I had no idea existed. One of my favorite films of the year. (A)

πŸŽ₯ The Order - I discovered this from one of the best films of the year lists. It’s a perfect action thriller heist film. (A)

πŸ“Ί Motherland Season 3 - A great light UK comedy that made for perfect background noise while I was working on other things. (B+)
