I was traveling a lot in September and managed to cruise through a ton of different films! I had a few nights off in different cities from work and used that break to see some new films in theaters too. I really wish Vancouver had something similar to a Alamo Drafthouse!
Friendship - Peak Tim Robinson. Enjoyed it but only for those whole enjoy his very particular style of comedy. (B+)
The Paper Season 1 - A perfect sequel to The Office. Similar vibes without relying too much on the original show. (A)
The Naked Gun (2025) - This feels like a film that would be much better to watch in a packed theater. At home it felt pretty limp and disappointing. (C+)
I Used to Go Here - Cute and light. Nothing special but an easy watch. (B+)
Splitsville - Ridiculous and over the top, but very entertaining. (A-)
Utopia (2024) Season 1 + 2 - Simple little Australian office comedy. (B+)
The Pitt Season 1 - Can’t believe it took so long to get to this show! One of my favorites of the year. Perfect medical drama. (A)
Katabasis by R. F. Kuang - Continue to love and be very impressed by every book Kuang puts out. (A)
The Regent’s Mate by Glynn Stewart - Not very memorable but a good continuation of the series. (B)
Layer Cake (rewatch) - Daniel Craig is just incredible in this. (A)
Materialists - I was expecting something different than what this film ended up being. Enjoyed it but didn’t below me away. (B+)
Good Time - Somehow had never watched this despite loving the Safdie’s work. So intense. (A)
Peacemaker Season 2 - The only piece of super hero content from either Marvel or DC i’ve enjoyed in the last few years. (A)
The Baltimorons - Possibly my favorite film i’ve seen this year. Perfect little movie from Jay Duplass. (A+)
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale - I had seen every other part of this series so I needed to finish it off. A tidy little wrap up for the series. (A-)
The OutrunĀ - Just devastating. Very powerful. Saoirse Ronan is incredible. (A)
English Teacher Season 2 - Crushed this in a day. So bingeable of a series. I’m glad they’ve managed to resolve their production drama. (A)
One Battle After Another - So many incredible movies this month! This one is another competitor for best of the year. (A+)
The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth - Watched the TV adaptation so wanted to read the book. Very different from the show which made it all the more enjoyable of a read. (A-)
Platonic Season 2 - Just fine. It felt like the first season had a clear story arc but this season didn’t feel necessary. (B)
