For the first month in a very long time, this post is within the first week of the month! It’s nice to get it out on time for a change. I caught up on a random mix of films and TV shows this month. I was constantly in the mood for a light, easy-to-watch comedy.

🎥 You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah - I love coming-of-age films and went into this with high expectations. It was underwhelming. I expected better from the Sandler family teaming up. (C+)

📚 Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee - I read the first two books in this series ages ago and didn’t love them, so I moved on to other books. After chatting about the series with a friend who loved it, I finally gave it a chance. Wow, do I regret not reading this earlier! Easily my favorite in the entire trilogy. It extends over many years and tells an incredible story. (A+)

📺 What We Do in the Shadows Season 5 - Still a solid comedy show but lots some of its magic. (B+)

🎥 Bottoms - What a fun, wild ride of a film. I was still determining what I was getting myself into going into it. (A-)

📺 Starstruck Season 3 - I’m glad they changed the formula a bit! Binged it all in an afternoon. (A)

🎥 No Hard Feelings - Gotta love a ridiculous sex comedy with Jennifer Lawrence in it! Exactly what I needed while having a lazy evening on the couch. (A-)

🎥 Spontaneous - Watched on the same day as No Hard Feelings and was much more underwhelming. I had to Google it to remember what film this was. (B-)

📺 Minx Season 2 - Not as good as Season 1, but still a fun watch. (B+)

🎥 Theater Camp - I was never a theatre kid, so that may be why I didn’t connect with this film. It was just alright. (B)

📚 Killers of the Flower Moon - With the film adaptation coming out soon, I wanted to read the book, and wow, it did not disappoint! As someone who regularly visits Oklahoma for work, I am always interested in learning more about this crazy state’s insane history.

📺 The Afterparty Season 2 - Another sequel season that isn’t as good as its first. (B)

📺 Breeders Season 4 - The time jump worked well! It helped them change things up enough to keep it interesting and expand the show’s scope. (A-)

📺 Reservation Dogs Season 3 - This show was perfect all the way through. Easily one of my favorite series finales of all time. A must-watch show for everyone. (A+)

🎥 Gran Turismo - Light, fun, and over the top. It’s fun that it’s based on a real-life story. (B+)

🎥 Flora and Son - An adorable film by the creator of Sing Street and Once. Beautiful all the way through. (A)
